so much to
celebrate this month

Thank you for showing up with open hearts through a few months of change. No matter the setting, every person who walks through our doors is met with compassion and without judgement — and that’s down to you.

a warm welcome to our new volunteers

We’re delighted to welcome Christina, Phil, Bemil and Louis to the Mowana volunteer family. Our volunteer numbers are on the rise again — a lovely reflection of a growing and committed community.

we’ve moved — mowana is now at berry hall

Mowana Safe Space is now based at Berry Hall. A huge thank you to Rosie, Lee and Liz for volunteering their time to help make the space warm, welcoming and ready for our guests.

coffee with kindness — new home at h2o

Coffee with Kindness has made a successful transition to H2O Café/Restaurant, just across the road from the Mind Café. Same friendly faces, same warm welcome — just a new spot.

“i believe in mowana so much… and i believe mowana saved my life.”

A previous guest visited us last week to make a $200 donation and shared these words. Moments like this remind us exactly why we’re here — and she hopes to join us as a volunteer once she’s settled into her new job. That circle of support, continuing.

thank you, rotary — $8,350 from the bobbo

We’ve received a wonderfully generous donation of $8,350 from Rotary for our help with the Bobbo event. It makes a real difference in helping us continue what we do.

We need your help to keep this partnership going. Rotary is looking for a strong turnout of marshals at the Beach to Beach on Sunday 23 August — and if we do a great job, we hope to be invited back for the Bobbo next year. Marshals don’t need to be Mowana-trained: friends, family and anyone over 18 who’s reasonably fit are all welcome. A simple but important way to support Mowana.

steering committee news

After giving so much to Mowana, Mark (Vice President), Michele (Treasurer), Alan and Karen have stepped down from the committee. Please join us in thanking them for their contributions.

We’re thrilled to announce that Jo Claire is stepping up to the role of Vice President, and Stephen is stepping in as our new Treasurer.

could you help guide mowana’s future?

We’re looking for volunteers to join the Steering Committee. We’d especially value support in fundraising, marketing, admin, grant writing, IT and social media. The committee meets on the fourth Thursday evening of each month. If you’ve ever thought about becoming more involved — or know someone who’d love to contribute — we’d love to hear from you.

congratulations, jo claire!

Jo Claire has received a Certificate of Recognition from Dr Sophie Scamps, Federal MP for Mackellar, for her outstanding commitment as a volunteer in our Mowana community. Jo is a true quiet achiever — she has taken on Better Impact and volunteer onboarding and coordination with gusto, and does so much more besides. Thank you, Jo!

mowana by the numbers

become a mowana sponsor

Mowana has introduced a new sponsorship package aimed at small and medium businesses in our area. Do you know a business owner or manager who might be open to investing in Mowana’s work in the community? Tony would love an introduction — contact him at tony.m@mowana.org.au.

new guest logging system

We now have a new guest logging system — a web app hosted on the Mowana website. You can find it here: mowana.org.au/guest-log
